Join us for our First Annual Cultured Food Festival. Learn about the health benefits of fermented foods, taste the wide ranging types of fermented foods and learn how to make your own at home with hands on classes.
ABOUT HIGHLAND SPRINGS RANCH & INN / 123 FARM
The festival is held at the historic Highland Springs Ranch & Inn (est. 1884). 123 Farm is the name of the ranch's organic farm.
HORSE-DRAWN WAGON TOURS
Ride aboard a horse-drawn wagon as your friendly guide talks about the history of the ranch and organic farm.
Visit the Organic Marketplace for a range of fermented foods such as pickles, kimchi, sauerkraut, kombuca and tools to make your own fermented food at home.
Sample local beers from over 6 breweries. Try some wine and kombucha too!
HELD INDOORS AT THE MAIN LOBBY. TO REGISTER FOR A WORKSHOP, PLEASE CALL US AT 951-845-1151. SOME CLASSES HAVE LIMITED SPACES.
DAILY 4-6 PM (starts every hour)
Learn about the health benefits of kimchi and how to make kimchi at home. Participants will get to take their own jar of kimchi home. $10 per person.
DAILY 1-3 PM (starts every hour)
Learn how simple and delicious it is to ferment your own vegetables at home. Participants will take home a jar of fermented vegetables. $10 per person.
SHRUBS / ANCESTRAL MIXOLOGY
SATURDAY 2-3 PM
Learn about the health benefits and how to make your own shrubs using fruit and herbs. Participants will take part in a one hour workshop, get a glass of a shrub, two recipes on recipe cards and participate in a raffle. $10 per person.
SOURDOUGH BREAD FOR KIDS
SATURDAY 12-1 PM
Kids learn how to make their own sourdough bread using a natural leavening starter. They will grind their own wheat and take home a loaf of baked bread. $10 per person.
1-3 PM ECHO SPARKS
1-3 PM FAUST & FARROW
Concerts are free and take place on the Festival Lawn.
12 RUSTIC FARM SHOPS INCLUDING AN ICE CREAM STORE AND A CAFE HOUSED IN VINTAGE COTTAGES ON OUR PROPERTY
For your shopping pleasure, the Organic Galleries will be open during the festival for you to learn about the goods we make using the ingredients from our farm.
A fermented twist on afternoon tea, try delicacies made by our own kitchen. $28 per person. Served indoors at The Grand Oak Farm to Table from 12-4 pm (last seating 3:30 pm). Reservations required 951-845-1151.
ALL FOODS ARE MADE IN-HOUSE BY OUR ON SITE RESTAURANT: THE GRAND OAK FARM TO TABLE. WE INCORPORATE INGREDIENTS FROM OUR OWN ORGANIC FARM AND ARE OFFERING DELICIOUS ITEMS FUSED WITH FERMENTED ELEMENTS. A FEW OF THE MENU OFFERINGS ARE HIGHLIGHTED BELOW,
